It’s All About The Harp Guitar At MoMM

Carlsbad’s Museum of Making Music’s next special exhibition, Floating Strings: The Remarkable Story of the Harp Guitar in America, opens to the public on Saturday, October 14th.

The exhibition includes over 40 beautiful examples of this unique instrument and explores the history of the harp guitar, from its beginnings in Europe to its current status and use in the United States today. In conjunction with this new exhibition, the Museum is hosting a variety of harp guitar-related events!

HARP GUITAR HAPPY HOUR – Museum Member Event

Museum members and a guest are invited to a happy hour celebrating the opening of the Floating Strings special exhibition. Enjoy live music (on harp guitar of course!), conversations with the exhibition team and guest curator Gregg Miner, and a first look at the new exhibition! This event is free for members. HARP GUITAR CONCERT

Join us for an unforgettable night celebrating some of the world’s greatest masters of the harp guitar, including: John Schneiderman, TakainoMoheji, Stephen Bennett, and Travis Bowman. The evening also includes appearances by Muriel Anderson, Andy Wahlberg and Claude Laflamme. This event takes place at the Carlsbad Community Church and is being held in partnership with the 15th Annual Harp Guitar Gathering.

HARP GUITAR RECITAL
Sunday, October 15 @ 3:00 PM
Join us for an “open-mic” style recital with performances by featured artists, educators and enthusiasts. This event is being held in partnership with the 15th Annual Harp Guitar Gathering—an annual event celebrating the instrument known as the harp guitar, as well as its players, builders and history.
