by The Editors on December 15, 2014

Francesca

GenerationOn’s Celebrity Youth Ambassador Francesca Capaldi took a few minutes out of her busy Disney Channel filming schedule to spread some cheer at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad’s Village Clubhouse.

“I’m so pleased to serve as a ‘Joy Ambassador’ for generationOn,” said Francesca. “It gives me the wonderful opportunity to meet amazing people, learn about others, and give back to the community in which I live, Carlsbad.”

The young “Dog With A Blog” star brought along 100 toys, which will be given to Club members next week. GenerationOn has partnered with Hasbro for The Joy Maker Challenge, a campaign that engages students in meaningful, hands-on service projects during the holiday season. For each action a youngster takes to help others, Hasbro will donate a toy or game to Toys for Tots (up to $1 million). They are also providing 100 toys to each of their 100 Joy Ambassadors across the country, of which Francesca is one. [click to continue…]

City Installs New Lights In Carlsbad Village

by The Editors on December 2, 2014

Street LightingThe City of Carlsbad is installing streetlights, signs and other fixtures in the Village as part of its ongoing efforts to revitalize this historic downtown neighborhood.
The city is placing 110 new streetlight fixtures throughout the Village that will illuminate walkways for pedestrians and make the downtown more vibrant. The new fixtures are energy-efficient and low-maintenance, so they will beautify the Village, save on the city’s energy bill and promote a more sustainable community. The new streetlights are part of a makeover intended to give the Village a unique style and ambience.

“Street lighting plays a critical role in promoting nighttime activity in the Village,” said City of Carlsbad Traffic Engineer Doug Bilse, the project manager. “We feel this project is a great investment in setting an attractive and secure nighttime atmosphere for our community.”
