Knife Wielding Man Gets SWATed

by The Editors on July 12, 2008

The Carlsbad SWAT team ended a three-hour standoff with a 24-year-old man, when after breaking into the house, the man jumped from the second story window of a home on Tara Court near James drive, according to a story in the North County Times.

When officers arrived, two women ran from the house. They told police that the suspect was on the second floor with a knife and acting out of control, possibly under the influence of drugs. . . . The home’s door was locked and barricaded, and the man inside refused to cooperate with officers, Sutt said. Police negotiators and the SWAT team were called, and three nearby homes were evacuated.

The man was reportedly taken to Tri-City Medical Center for some needed observation.
