At 11:30 AM this morning (September 20, 2009) the Carlsbad Fire Department responded to a surfing injury just south of the Tamarack jetties. The girl, approximately 16 years of age, apparently hit her head on her surfboard causing a cut to the bridge of her nose and knocking her pretty hard.
According to lifeguards someone nearby phoned 911 after seeing the girl being carried out of the water. After being treated on the beach the girl was able to stand and get into a lifeguard truck under her own power and was driven to a waiting ambulance where she was transported to the hospital.
