It’s cloudy but at least the water is warm. . .
. . . even if the surf is kind of junky and blown out.
By 4 PM the Garfield Roll was beginning to fill in. Makes us kind of wish they’d just close Garfield and turn it into one big block party.
At the Carlsbad Inn there was music on the lawn, a warm pool, and crowds. They even had security on the bridge.
Meanwhile, at the Boar’s Cross’n’s Freedom Fest BMXer were jumping for the smallish crowd, but we’re sure there will be a few more people for the bikini contest and the bands. . .
The Carlsbad Police Department had the Legoland Fireworks show on lockdown. The Sheraton Parking lot was full, the business park closed. We had to drive all the way out to Alton (past the No Fear) offices so we could see the the medium show at Legoland. Those who stayed on the beach in Carlsbadistan probably had the best show of all with fireworks going off up and down the coast from 8:30 to well past 9 PM.

Greatest 4th ever.Mellow beach crowd,mellow palisades.Giant slip & slides, BBQ’s burning in every yard, Families and children enjoying the evening. Many people watching the Garfield Roll( it’s like a bike path, Awesome) from thier front yards. Fireworks SAFELY being displayed from the inner depths of CARLSBADISTAN. Thank gosh for those residents that display their patriotic passion into the sky! If it wasn’t for the MANY “dueling” yard shows – It would have been ANOTHER non firework dampered holiday. Oh, i guess we could have ventured to LEGOLAND to see the pyrotechnics…..BUT it looks as if the CPD has gotten involved, So NO more fun @ legoland unless you pay admission. THank you CPD for being understanding(?). Looks like all the dept was helping control parking for legoland…. AS THEY SHOULD (tax revenue=legoland admission $$$). A couple of rockets in the sky NEVER hurt anyone. Especially in the entertainment & dedication to the freedom of being an American.
CARLSBASTAN is a GREAT place on the 4th. I try to tell as many Zonies as I can. So the generated Tourism tax dollars could possibly pay for a REAL FIREWORK show put on by the city. Oh, I know that’s a pipe dream, Due to we can’t even get a POOL, new park and waste money on ripping out shuffleboard courts and putting in ($$ELECTRICAL$$) gazebo’s for Wino’s to hang out in in Magee park. Oh, sorry- that’s the ROTARY that is giving the Wino’s a “sheltered-OUT of (PD)SIGHT” structure for reminising about the ol’ rotary years….. Shoot, they have their OWN ROTARY park!! Why wouldn’t the Rotary put the Gazebo BACK (old location) there? Oh, I see, it was because all the Wino’s hung out in it !!!! MAKES SENSE !!!!
