by The Editors on August 7, 2012

Carlsbadistan gets a taste of pure African rhythms as Sierra Leone’s Refugee All-Stars rise up to kick off Jazz In The Park’s run at Calavera Hills Park.

Sierra Leone’s Refugee All Stars have risen like a phoenix out of the ashes of war and enflamed the passions of fans across the globe with their uplifting songs of hope, faith and joy. The band is a potent example of the redeeming power of music and the ability of the human spirit to persevere through unimaginable hardship and emerge with optimism intact. From their humble beginnings in West African refugee camps Sierra Leone’s Refugee All Stars have performed on some of the world’s most prestigious stages and matured into one of Africa’s top touring and recording bands.

Remember: bring chairs, snacks, drinks (to share with your neighbors). The music begins at 6 PM. Calavera Hills Park is located at 2997 Glasgow Dr. in Carlsbad.

Carlsbad’s Free Neighbor Mediation Service

by The Editors on March 23, 2012

At war with one of your neighbors? Tired of their dogs leaving massive piles on your lawn, parking in your space, painting “artistic” murals on your walls, or blasting dubstep at all hours of the day and night? The City of Carlsbad has a solution: mediation. Don’t take your neighbors to court, sit down and talk about it.

As the city says, “It’s free, quick, confidential and conducted by professionally trained mediation volunteers who are members of the Carlsbad community.”

The Lululemon/Specialized Carlsbad Video

by The Editors on February 28, 2012

We learned a few things watching this video. We were most excited to discover that Carlsbadistan apparently has a pier under which the Lululemon/Specialized women’s cycling team loves to hang out. Promo video don’t have to tell the truth, right? It’s marketing. Plus, we already know what yoga does to people. Glad they at least got the rolling beauty of Carlsbadistan right.

Legoland’s Ronchetti’s Parking Spot Blocked

by The Editors on June 20, 2011

Legoland California General Manager Peter Ronchetti was in for a little surprise when he left for lunch today. Seems the Legoland model shop replaced his Volvo XC60 with an exact replica made entirely out of Legos. The replacement car weighed 2,934 pounds, but it doesn’t look like it drives very well. We’re guessing Ronchetti has never been blocked into his parking spot like that before.
