Have you been driving home to Carlsbad on the 5 lately and noticed a village of white inflatable buildings at the Del Mar Fair Grounds? That’s what promoters are calling “the world’s first hyper-reality tour” a.k.a. The Marvel Experience. It was slated to end on Sunday, February 22, 2015, however, the attraction has extended its run until March 1, 2015.

“The enthusiasm we’ve seen from San Diego audiences has been nothing short of overwhelming,” said Hero Ventures’ COO Doug Schaer and CEO Rick Licht, in a joint statement. “We are so grateful for how this city, home of Comic-Con International, has embraced The Marvel Experience, and we are excited to be able to stick around a little bit longer.” . . . This first-of-its-kind premier touring experience features a thrilling motion ride, the world’s only 360-degree Stereoscopic 3D Dome, a wide range of technologically advanced interactive and immersive elements, state of the art projection techniques and dozens of Marvel’s most popular Super Heroes.

Epic Teen Nights: Party In The Park

D3Aa3Eec-3Cfc-4Ab6-98E8-5A8Db1162544This Saturday, February 21, 2015 the City of Carlsbad will be hosting an Epic Teen Nights Party In The Park from 5 to 9 PM, at Calavera Hills Community Center.

City of Carlsbad presents a new teen event, Epic Teen Nights: Party at the Park on Saturday, Feb. 21, from 5 to 9 p.m., at Calavera Hills Community Center. Teens from 11 to 15 years old will enjoy age-appropriate activities, dancing, contests and more. . . Parents can drop off teens for a fun-filled night complete with a black-light dance room, GameTruck, Zorb ball races, an outdoor movie, an inflatable dodgeball arena and more. . . Teens can Instagram shots from the photo booth, compete in Kendama contests and test their fashion design skills with trash bags and duct tape in the “Garbage Runway” contest. Prizes are provided by event sponsor Big Bear Resorts. . . Only middle and high school students are allowed to attend, and participants must show a school ID. The event will chaperoned. Food and beverages are available for purchase.

Prepare for an afternoon filled with craft beers, premium wines, food, live music, and more. Local vendors will be providing tastings of signature dishes and beverages, while guests soak up the sounds of great tunes. . . Featured wines will include ZioBaffa, Rombauer, Justin, Cakebread, Coomber, and Orin Swift. Our participating food vendors include Gregorio’s, Luna Grill, That Pizza Place, Rubio’s, Zen-sational Cheesecakes, and Kasi. . . The $45 Taste of Bressi Clubhouse Pass provides access to all restaurant nibbles and your choice of any 8 beer, wine or cocktail tastings. Valentine’s Concert Series In Carlsbad Village

RachelleverenzThe Carlsbad Village Association invites you to take a Valentine’s Day stroll through adorned Village streets and swoon over live performances by local violinists Karen Guizar and Rachel Leverenz (pictured right), as well as crooner Alan Land.

While you’re out, keep the romance alive and cozy up to a glass of wine or sweet treat at Village shops like Relm Wine Bar and Carlsbad Chocolate Bar. Village restaurants like Paon, Blue Ocean Robata & Sushi and The Land & Water Co. will also be offering decadent menus for a pre or post performance feast. . . The free, family-friendly Valentine’s Day concerts will be on Saturday, Feb. 14 from 6 to 8pm. Performance sites are located outside of Carlsbad Chocolate Bar on the corner of Carlsbad Village Drive and State Street, Viz Art Ink on the corner of Grand Avenue and State Street and Paon Restaurant on Roosevelt Street.

Stage Kiss Previews At New Village Arts

PWYC tickets are subject to availability, and are first-come first-served starting an hour before the performance. There is no guarantee that all patrons seeking tickets via the PWYC option will receive a ticket. . . Reserved seats are available for preview performances at $24 a seat. These seats can be purchased anytime via the NVA Box Office or www.newvillagearts.org. This option guarantees you a seat!

Besos de Coco At The Carlsbad Library

You’ll never look at a classical guitar, standup base or tap dancer the same after experiencing Besos de Coco’s eclectic mix of jazz, Brazilian, and classical music. They will be playing a winter concert at the Carlsbad Library’s Ruby G. Schulman Auditorium on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 6 PM.

This fun and flavorful trio features classical guitarist Lorraine Castellanos, double bassist Evona Wascinski and tap dancer Claudia Gomez Vorce, whose magical footwork conjures the sound of percussion instruments.

Berkley Hart Selis Twang At NVA

The local Carlsbad music scene keeps rolling this weekend with a January 9 &10, 2015 performance by Berkley Hart Selis Twang at the New Village Arts Theatre. The group made up of seven-time San Diego Music Award winner Eve Selis, and Marc Intravaia, Jeff Berkley and Calman Hart.

Cody Lovaas To Play Carlsbad Village Theater

San Diego Music Award’s Best New Artist, Cody Lovaas, will take the stage at The Carlsbad Village Theater on January 10, 2015 at 8 PM for an all-ages show presented by The Belly Up. The San Diego-raised singer/songwriter is best known for his soft rock acoustic genre, singing original songs about surfing and the California coast. Loaves will showcase his original songs including, “Take a Ride.”

“There is nothing better than getting up on stage in front of a San Diego crowd and playing music that makes everyone feel good,” said Lovaas. “I am inspired by the ocean, surfing and the San Diego lifestyle. I have been playing music since I was seven years old and it has been a very fun journey ever since.”

The streets of Carlsbad Village come alive on Friday night December 19, 2014 as part of a special Christmas edition of Friday Night Live featuring Christmas caroling.

Gather the family and enjoy this enchanting holiday presentation as you witness the sights and sounds that make this time of year so magical. Hot cocoa and cider will keep you warm as you briefly escape the holiday rush and swoon over performances by local crooners like Alan Land and Susanna Kurner with Adrian Demain on guitar. . . While you’re out, browse Village shops like The Beat Clothing and Lavender Blu in search of the perfect holiday gifts, or keep the holiday spirits flowing with a seasonal craft beer at 83 degrees. Village restaurants like Gregorio’s and Café Panini will also be ready for your post-caroling feast.
