Members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad got a surprise visit from San Diego Charger Quentin Jammer on Tuesday, April 3, 2012. Quentin took time out to visit with the surprised youngsters, give them toys, and sign a few autographs.

“If I can encourage and make a difference in the life of just one child, I feel that I have been successful,” said Quentin. Jammer believes that all children should be given the same opportunity to excel in academics as well as athletics, regardless of their resources. His foundation’s ultimate goal is to establish a solid support system with children, developing them into young leaders that will sustain a prosperous community.

(Carlsbad, CA – April 5, 2012) When the members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad stepped off the bus and into the Clubhouse on April 3, they were greeted by none other than San Diego Charger Quentin Jammer.

“I was surprised with the kids’ reaction to Quentin’s visit,” said Athletic Director Aaron Brown. “I thought they would be all about the autographs and the fanfare. But instead, they were excited to have someone of Quentin’s stature come and spend time with them. He made these kids feel important.”

No stranger to giving back, Quentin took time out to visit with the surprised youngsters, give them toys, and sign a few autographs. He spoke about his experience playing sports as a youth – he only started playing football in 8th grade – as well as how he was able to translate his love for the sport into a college education and an NFL career.

Twelve-year old Jose was overheard saying, “It was so awesome seeing Quentin. He’s a famous football player, and he actually came and hung out with us this afternoon!” Joe, a teen member of the Club, was impressed with how “cool it was for Quentin to come see kids just starting out in competitive sports.”

“If I can encourage and make a difference in the life of just one child, I feel that I have been successful,” said Quentin. Jammer believes that all children should be given the same opportunity to excel in academics as well as athletics, regardless of their resources.
