Village Lightup

Tonight from 7 to 9 PM (September 7, 2012) the Village of Carlsbadistan will bask in the bright twinkle of decorative LED lights.

The decorative lights are Phase 2 of the Village Works “Light the Village” pilot project. Phase 1 saw the addition of LED rope lights on the pedestrian poles on Carlsbad Village Dr. between Carlsbad Blvd. and Roosevelt St.

Now through a partnership between businesses, property owners, and the City of Carlsbad, the whole Village looks a little brighter. For the official word, follow the jump.A WHOLE NEW AMBIANCE FOR THE VILLAGE
Friday Night Lights showcases trees lit on State Street

Kick off your weekend with dinner, music, and a romantic stroll under twinkle-lit trees this Friday night in Carlsbad Village from 7-9PM. The trees on State Street between Grand Avenue and Carlsbad Village Drive will be bathed in decorative LED lights beginning this week.

The lights are on photocell sensors and turn on shortly after sunset — which means about 7:20 PM this Friday.

The State Street tree lights are a true collaboration of business owners, property owners, and the City of Carlsbad. The City’s Transportation Department was instrumental in installing special adaptors on certain light poles to provide power to the trees, while business owners and property owners on State Street provided connections to the rest. The additional lighting will improve the user experience in the Village, creating a festive and safe atmosphere for locals and visitors alike.
