The Seawall Salts had to find a new place to hang out this morning as the City of Carlsbad took the last few steps in their seemingly summer-long “replace the stairs” project.
This morning, as the Hemlock Stairs were being replaced, morning strollers and surfers were forced with either walk on the east side of Coast Highway or down below as the Seawall’s upper deck was closed from Cherry Street to Redwood. At least all those crumbling steps (that wreaked havoc on our bare feet all summer) are finally gone. More photos after the jump.

Cut the old steps out, swing the new steps in.
