Carlsbad’s drag racing extraordinaire Ron Capps spoke to the media prior to the 22nd Annual O’Reilly NHRA Fall Nationals these weekend at the Texas Motorplex and here’s a little what he had to say about a season in which he finds himself third in the funny car rankings.
To be honest, anybody who tells you they are not counting the points are lying to you. Strategy is so different [with the new playoff format]. You really can’t have any small mistakes, whether it’s the team, the driver, or the crew chief. You have to have some luck on your side because there’s going to be some things you’re going to have to overcome. And more than anything, you just have to be able to peak at the right time, and right now is the time.
