Mob Turns Out For Airport Hearing

by The Editors on September 21, 2007

According to the North County Times “More than 100 people poured into a Palomar Airport Advisory Committee meeting Thursday night to discuss a recently completed economic report.”

The report, called the Air Services Situation Review, wasn’t on the agenda, but that didn’t stop about 30 people from voicing their views. The crowd appeared divided, with half saying the report’s suggestions would make the place a safer, more attractive place, and the other half saying that noisy planes were already causing them enough grief.

We love flying out of Palomar: the more flights, the better. But then we don’t live in Bressi Ranch. Click the link for all the details.

The noise from the planes are something that can be dealt with. Its the jet fuel smell and all of the exhaust fumes that sit in our neighborhood, in Bressi Ranch, when the onshore breeze starts to blow. Most families in a beach community get to open their windows during the afternoon and enjoy the smell of the ocean. Think twice before living in Bressi Ranch. Placing homes so close to the airport was a bad decision on Lennar (the builder) and the City of Carlsbad. I wish I would have known this prior to my purchase of my home. The long term effects of respiratory inhalation of exhaust fumes are known carcinagens, coundn’t this have been forecasted?
