Swell Of The Year Scheduled For Wednesday

by The Editors on December 4, 2007

California State Park lifeguards are planning on monster surf beginning this afternoon, according to a story on SignOnSanDiego.com. “It’s going to be very, very big,” said Alex Peabody, an aquatic safety specialist with the California State Parks public safety division. “You’re going to see some pretty amazing waves.”

Waves are expected to reach 5 to 7 feet this afternoon, then increase through tomorrow morning. By then, swells could reach 8 to 10 feet, with sets in excess of 15 feet. A high surf advisory will be in effect from 1 p.m. today through 10 p.m. Thursday.
