AT&T is rolling out a new Internet-based television and high-speed Internet service called U-Verse and Carlsbad is one of four cities in San Diego County to get it. Aside from the fact that AT&T really is the death star in so many ways, nothing could be worse than Time Warner Cable.

All the details after the jump. . .

So here is the mondo package TV U400 details:

U400 with AT&T Yahoo! High Speed Internet Pro U-verse Enabled
Starting at $119 per month, you get more than 300 channels including the Movie Package (this package has more than 30 channels of SHOWTIME®, The Movie Channel (TMC)TM, FLIX®, Starz®, and Encore®) and our HBO®/Cinemax® Package (featuring 18 channels of HBO®/Cinemax® programming) and our Sport Package. Service price includes up to three HD-ready TV receivers, one with a digital video recorder (DVR).

Your service also includes AT&T Yahoo! High Speed Internet Pro U-verse Enabled with wireless home networking. Perfect for downloading music and videos!

This all looked very enticing until we read this amazingly detailed review of the product and it’s installation from Scott Greczkowski including these words:

My overall thought on AT&T U-Verse are this, it could be a great service, however at the moment with poor VOD service, highly compress HD service, flakey boxes I would say that the U-Verse is still a beta product and is not ready for prime time.

Scott’s review was written in January and maybe they’ve fixed many of his complaints, but until we know, maybe there is something worse than Time Warner.

Unfortunately nothing has changed with UVERSE, and in fact it looks like it will be this time next year before any fixes are in place.

Check out the following for the news of the delays at UVERSE.

Don’t get me wrong UVERSE is VERY cool, however its still not ready for primetime.

BTW thanks for the link to my review.

I live in the Carmel Valley area and had uverse installed on 7/19. I would agree that this service has potential but is not ready for prime time. Some of the problems that I have experienced are: pixalation, ability to view HD in only one room, vod usually not available and the most disappointing thing for boxing fans is no pay per view events are offered.

AT&T U Verse sucks. No HBO PPV which means I won’t be able to watch Hatton vs Mayweather this Saturday.

If you’re a boxing fan like I am, I don’t recommend this crap service.

I just received a post card in the mail today with a picture of VERY large AT&T boxes on the font with the title,”STOP THE INVASION OF THE UGLY AT&T BOXES!” The back of the card had contact information for the city council and a lot of inflammatory text such as, “Property Values Under Assault!” and “Your home could be next”.

The most interesting fact about this postcard is that it does not say who sent or paid for this message. Could it be that TWC is getting a little nervous?

I read where two of these AT&T boxes blew up and burst into flames! I don’t care who it is or what they say it will do, I don’t want one of these boxes anywere near may home or where my kids play. I got one of those postcards and I’m glad I did. I started reading about the problems the AT&T boxes have had. You can bet AT&T wouldn’t have told us.

Time Warner doesn’t have to talk about how ugly the boxes are; AT&T’s own employees are speaking out against them. Check out this article: http://www.tulsaworld.com/news/article.aspx?articleID=071008_1_A1_hShew01848

Burst into flame ? Highly doubtful. If any Cable provider isn’t ready for prime time it’s Time Warner. Uverse has been available for 2 years and it’s already won the jd power award for best cable/internet service across the boards. Where was tw ? Bottom of the list. With Total home Dvr, record 4 shows at once, program dvr through mobile phone or internet, 100% digital picture, wireless service at home and wifi for on the go, dedicated line non shared network and a superior HD lineup, all at a fair price ? It’s a no brainer. Time Warner was a never ending battle for me. They could care less about how bad my service was. I had to wait an hour on hold just to tell them. They’ve been the only option for people for so long, that they took advantage of anyone they could. Ive had uverse since April and i was as skeptic as anyone else, but it has been flawless and has exceeded my expectations by a mile.
