Carlsbad’s TGIF Jazz In the Parks moves to the extra large Poinsettia Park for two stops in July. On July 20th from 6 – 8 PM Samba Mapangala & Orchestra Virunga brings East African pop to Carlsbad.
Their music is an innovative mix of the best rumba and soukous from Congo, with the earthier Kenyan style. Samba composes and sings in both Lingala and Kiswahili. His astounding voice has been described as melting in the ears.
This will probably be the most unusually interesting music of the summer, so don’t miss it. Bon Jovi, it’s not.
