Long-time directors Steve Pynes and Bill Walls wrap up service to foundation

Carlsbad, CA – After dedicating a combined total of nearly 20 years of distinguished service to the Carlsbad Educational Foundation, long-time board members Steve Pynes and Bill Walls have concluded their service to the foundation.

Honored last evening by immediate past president of the board Julie Baker and current board president Lisa Posard, along with many other board members attending the Board of Trustees meeting of the Carlsbad Unified School District, attorneys Pynes and Walls were publicly thanked for their many years of support to public education.

Steve Pynes, a Carlsbad resident who is an attorney with the San Diego-based law firm of Ferris & Britton, joined the Carlsbad Educational Foundation’s (CEF) board of directors in the mid-1990’s. In addition to providing labor and employment counsel for the foundation’s childcare program, Steve served as the chair of the annual “Taste of Carlsbad™” event for many years.

Carlsbad attorney Bill Walls also joined the CEF board in the mid-90’s and was instrumental in serving on the foundation’s childcare committee when it made the decision in 2004 to independently operate a licensed before- and after-school childcare program at each of the elementary schools in Carlsbad. Bill also served as the vice-president of the board.

Past president Julie Baker said, “We appreciate their many years of dedicated service to CEF. Bill and Steve were valued members of the foundation who helped us oversee the contribution of dollars which funded the schools with up-to-date computer equipment, theatre and band programs, libraries, the award-winning CHS-TV program, and more.”
