Armed And Not So Dangerous

by The Editors on July 28, 2009

Opencarry 2Members of the pro-gun North County Open Carry Group apparently paraded around Carlsbadistan Village on Saturday July 25, 2009 armed with unloaded guns to show that it is still legal to carry an unloaded gun in public, according to a post on Examiner.com.

The group of North County Patriots walked the Village Faire area of Carlsbad handing out informational flyers. “We made lots of new friends and no one called the police or freaked out,” says Jeff Schwilk who helped organize this “open carry” and also heads the San Diego Minutemen group which lobbies for secure borders and Constitutional rights.

Of course he does. Gun nuts are so nutty.

The 2nd amendment sure is nutty!

PS: The header on your blog makes Carlsbad look like a prison.

Carlsbad is all about the beach! this is the beach that the majority of the tourists ( in town) visit and see. Till you said it looks like a prison, I never saw that- just a seawall, our tax dollars at work (lifeguard tower & lifeguards),the power plant (that is as famous as El Segundo and Huntington Beach) and a mysto shrouded person ( ??? ) making their way to the oceans edge. Oh, the pile of dirt (collected from the sliding bluff above) doesn’t give it that prison feel because all the inmates would have escaped !!
Maybe it is reminiscent of a time past for you Guy, but I have never felt the prison vibe due to when I am on the sand, that wall means i have arrived to the beach which is 3/4 the reason I live here and why all the tourists come here in droves and help pay our taxes !!!
look beyond the wall and enjoy the ocean view-

Deep Alfredo, but we believe Guy was referring to the image in the blog header not Carlsbad in general…

but you bring up an interesting point… the seawall just might represent a life sentence for all that will never be again…

Constitutional rights? Of who? I remember seeing some people affiliated with the SD Minutemen protesting against those who were there protesting against Prop 8 down in Hillcrest. Here’s a quote from their website:

“NOV 20. The past few months in Southern California we have seen a resurgence in hate rhetoric and hate crimes from Mexican/Illegal Alien radical activists and also from radical gay activists. These two groups have much in common. Both feel wronged by the AMERICAN public who repeatedly says NO to their radical agendas. Both are falsely claiming their movements are civil rights movements. They obviously are not. Both groups are heavy in criminals, deviants, and anarchists who feel they are above the laws of the land. But now their constant whining has morphed into visible hate and are manifasted by lies, false accusations, and threats against anyone who dares to disagree with them.”

I find it odd that they’re concerned with the constitutional rights of Americans but only select groups. What, gays should not have the same rights under the law? What about blacks? How about those Jews?

I’d be willing to bet that the majority of these “radical gay activists” were all born in AMERICA. You’re not truly interested in protecting the rights of Americans unless it’s for ALL AMERICANS regardless of sexual orientation, skin color or the type of shoes they wear.

The SD Minutemen are not interested in standing up for America, only the America that they want and envision. Standing up against the constant flow of illegal immigration is great considering the government allowed this problem to balloon out of control. However, their railing against “radical gay activists” AMERICAN radical gay activists, makes them appear to be no different than the groups they claim to despise. If anyone has a “radical agenda” it is the SD Minutemen, not the (gay) Americans they refuse to stand up for.
