10-Year-Old Boy Missing From Carlsbad Beach

by The Editors on September 6, 2009

Starting at about 6 PM this evening (September 6, 2009) (and continuing) the San Diego Sheriff’s helicopter has been flying up and down the beach in Carlsbadistan with the same message:

Missing. White Male. Name of Christian. No Shirt. Blue Shorts with thunder on the back.

The Carlsbad Police department also started backward 911 calling local residents giving the same information and explaining that the boy was last seen swimming. Anyone with information please call 911.

He was found. My family and I were all praying for his safe return too. News did not cover it. I called KUSI this morning and they did not know about the story. So, I called the C’bad Police dept.
They informed me he was found. We are all very
relieved.

I heard that the child was located safely and returned to his family.

He is safe, I called and asked the police, thank goodness! Why wouldn’t they let the public know this? I was at the beach when it happened and it ruined my day not to mention I didn’t sleep well.Guess they only like to report the BAD news.

I talked to a Carlsbad policeman this morning at 9am , and asked him what had happened in the case of the boy being lost at the beach yesterday. He knew nothing about it or the reverse 911 calls that went out . Whats’ up with that ??? Made me feel like i had imagined the whole thing !!!!!!

Is there any update?

I was under the helicopter in the water, but can’t find anything online about whether he was found.

I was there with Christian when he was found. While the whole beach was going bananas, he had no idea he’d drifted so FAR away. He said he’d never heard or noticed the helecopters flying around, certainly not hearing his name. Two women spotted him from the police PA description, and about ten of us waved and flagged down the helecopter. He had a big sand crab in one hand, and four rocks in the other hand.

I completely agree it would have been great if the police told the masses he’d been found!

Thank Goodness for the internet! I was wondering all day about the boy. I watched all of the local news channels just to have heard nothing. It amazes me that the powers that be didn’t even consider all of the people that they alerted on the beach that he was missing and not even make one pass in that same helicopter just to let us know that it ended well!

This has happened many times, helicopter overhead announcing lost child and description, Most of the times we are not notified that the child was found.
Thank God this one was found safe and sound. Our prayers are always out there and to know they were answered would have been wonderful as well as joyful. A child lost is always everyones concern.

When is society going to have enough of the negligent behavior exercsed by the parents of these lost children? I would like my tax money to be spend in areas of real concern. Mexico certainly won’t do that for us…..
we can’t even drive in that country without insurance. Wake up folks!

I live on Ocean Street, so when I heard the helicopter, and saw the police set up down at the Grand Avenue public access, I was filled in on the situation. Assuming the worse since he was already missing for two hours, and know that he has already passed the “Golden Ten Minutes”, being an EMT, I went home, grabbed, my fins, mask, and snorkel and searched for him for two more hours, until after dark. I would have liked to have known that he was found as well!

I too was at the beach Sunday with my family. It frightened us a little seeing as we are just getting used to taking our 17 month old daughter to the beach. I got home and heard the reverse 911 call on our answering machine after hearing it on my cell. First thing monday morning we watched the news hoping to hear SOMETHING but there was no coverage what so ever. Even tonight I was at work asking around about this boy. Finally I googled it and my prayers were answered. I am very proud that our community has such a system to HELP and notify outhers. It would have been nice for some kind of update though.
To the post above…. YOU OBVIOUSLY DON’T HAVE CHILDREN or a HEART FOR THAT MATTER. we are talking about a human life here! This system proved that it is well worth the dollars. TELL ME PLEASE what would you perfer your precious tax dollars be spent on? Try to put yourself in the parents of the missing boy…. They most likely thought he was dead and thank god the police were there to help.

In response to Amber…………..I would like my tax money spent on anything but parental/child negligence and illegal aliens. I have two
children that understand boundries and communication.
