The body of Carlsbad’s Bjorn Eklund, 36, was found in a hiking area in South Orange County Friday, September 11, 2009 after his wife reported him missing on Thursday, according to a story in the OC Register.

On Friday, a hiker found a backpack containing some of Eklund’s personal belongings in a hiking area near Crown Valley and Antonio parkways and notified authorities, Amormino said. . . The sheriff’s department sent out a helicopter to scan the area and found Eklund’s body. . . The coroner’s office is investigating whether the man committed suicide, Amormino said. The body had no trauma indicating assault, gunshots or stab wounds, nor were there indications that Eklund fell.

Our thoughts are with Eklund’s family and friends.
