by The Editors on November 12, 2009

XceneExene Cervenka, the grande dame of the LA punk scene will be playing Hensley’s Flying Elephant Pub & Grill on Saturday night November 14, 2009 and North County Times writer Stephen Rubin took the opportunity to check in with the singer/songwriter who has suffered great loss recently as well as annouced that she has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

I appreciate things a little bit more that I took for granted, like waking up every day, walking out the front door and going, ‘Wow, it’s a beautiful f—- day. . . .”It doesn’t change anything,” she said of the diagnosis. “It’s a mystery that can strike any part of you at any moment. And some people it rarely strikes, and some people it’s constant, and they’re in agony and it’s a horrible thing; I’m somewhere in the middle.”

Exene plays with Frank Drennan and Cindy Wasserman of Dead Rock West. Show starts at 8 PM. Tickets are $10.
