Thanksgiving Dinner Out in Carlsbadistan

The warm November days in Carlsbadistan often mean that come holiday time, those inland relatives are quick to make the trek to the beach. If hosting isn’t your thing, do what we’re doing this year and go out. No cooking. No cleaning. No problems.

While you can always head on over to Don’s Country Kitchen, Tip Top Meats, or The Claim Jumper for an old fashioned Turkey dinner, take a look at the list of restaurants offering a special Thanksgiving Day menu (Thursday, November 26, 2009) if you’d like to step it up a notch and let someone else do the cooking.

Giving thanks with family and friends this year just got a whole lot easier. Follow the jump for all the details:

Paon Restaurant & Wine Bar

Paon, the Village of Carlsbad’s newest fine dining restaurant is presenting a special, traditional three-course Thanksgiving Day meal featuring a first course of Butternut Squash Soup, Wild Mushrooms, Chantilly Crème and Pumpkin seed Oil Oor Comice Pear Salad, Arugula, Frisee, Endive, Stilton Cheese and Sherry Vinaigrette an entree choice of Oven Roasted Turkey Breast, Haricot Verts, Carrots, Potato Puree and Brioche Stuffing or Brioche Stuffed Pan Roasted Quail with Glazed Root Vegetable, Fingerling Potato and Madeira Sauce or Pan Seared Maine Diver Scallops with Ragout of Organic Vegetables, Maine Lobster and Potato Puree or Colorado Rack of Lamb with spinach, Organic Wild Mushrooms, Dried Prunes and Celery Root Puree or (yes there are more delicious choices) Pan Roasted Flat Iron Pork with Swiss Chard, Turnips, Caramelized Apple and Spätzele, and last but not least, Certified Angus Filet Mignon with Roasted Shallot Fondue, Potato Gratin and Bordelaise Sauce. And for desert? Pumpkin Cake with Cinnamon Whip Crème and Crème Brulee.

Twenty/20 Grill & Wine Bar at the Sheraton

Twenty/20 is offering a special a la cart Thanksgiving Day menu. The plate of Brined Organic Turkey Breast with Cranberry Glaze, Whipped Golden Potatoes, Haricot Verts and Rosemary-Turkey Gravy will set you back $24. If you want the spiced pumpkin pie with Chocalate Ganache and Cinnamon Whipped Cream bring another $12.

Argyle Steakhouse at Four Seasons Aviara

The Four Seasons has two restaurants serving Thanksgiving Day brunch. The Argyle Steakhouse overlooks the 18th green and offers easy access to the Batiquitos Lagoon walking trail. Shuttle service is available from the main lobby of the Four Seasons resort.

The California Bistro will be offering the same menu as the Argyle Steakhouse for Thanksgiving Day brunch. Selections include an iced seafood display, smoked fish platter, house-made pâté, Sushi; a Cold, hot, and desert buffet; breakfast omelets until 2 pm, and, of course, carving stations featuring slow-roasted young turkey.

Prontos Gourmet Market

Prontos Gourmet Market will prepare a custom Thanksgiving feast featuring Harvest winter squash with pumpkin, apples, wild rice soup, garden salad with fresh vegetables, tomatoes, cucumbers, ranch – Gorgonzola walnut with cranberries, balsamic dressing and fresh whole roasted or deep fried turkey with gravy. In fact, they have a dinner for two featuring roasted turkey, stuffing, mashed sweet and white potatoes, cranberry and gravy for $18.95.
