Thursday’s Carlsbad Traffic Sting

by The Editors on July 20, 2007

It seemed like Carlsbad Police where everywhere yesterday: hiding behind trees, parking in secret spots, waving radar guns attached to their motorcycles. Well, it was all part of a “multi-agency traffic enforcement operation” according to the North County Times.

Officers from the Carlsbad, Escondido and Oceanside police departments, the county Sheriff’s Department and a number of other agencies participated in the detail, which was held between 7 and 11:30 a.m. at about 20 locations throughout the city, police spokeswoman Lynn Diamond said. . . The locations targeted, including spots on Carlsbad Boulevard, Palomar Airport Road and La Costa Avenue, were chosen because they are “either problem (areas) we’re seeing on a regular basis or the community ID’d them as significant problems,” Diamond said.

Talk about a crack-down. All told there was one felony warrant arrest, 250 citations issued, and 16 cars were towed away because the drivers were unlicensed.
