The power in Carlsbadistan went out Sunday December 13, 2009 at about 10:35 PM and as of 9 AM Monday it was still out.
SDG&E reported early on that they were investigating an “outage of the overhead electrical system” and that power would be restored by 11:37 PM. That estimate was later moved to 1:37 AM.
Obviously the problem is a little more serious than workers first thought. The source of the outage was traced to the substation level and “that is why so many customers were affected,” a spokesperson the SDG&E said.
The San Diego Union-Tribune reported last night that 21,000 homes were originally without power.
An spokesperson SDG&E said that as of 9:50 AM power was still out for 3,576 homes and there was no estimated time for repair.
