If you’re going to San Diego, be sure to not drive south from here. If you’re going to San Diego, the old bridge you’ve crossed will no longer be there. . . because the work crews are busy replacing the old 90-year-old bridge at the dip.

. . a portion of the southbound side of the road between Palomar Airport Road and Island Way. During the closure, traffic will be re-routed to Avenida Encinas. Northbound traffic on Carlsbad Boulevard will not be affected.

Until then is looks like a great place to run along the coast with no traffic at all.

love to run February 22, 2010 at 12:59 pm

Unfortunately, I don’t think it’ll be a great place to run, unless it’s extreme low tide and you can run on the beach (too darned full of rocks these days). They have the mesh netting up blocking even the sidewalk area so you have to step right next to the cliff to cross over, although of course you can just walk down the middle of the street to pass the barricades. The thing is, when I did that on Friday, I saw a shadowy figure who looked to be a worker, who saw me approaching in the bike lane. He started walking toward me, so I turned around and went back the way I came. Several cyclists also were turned back by this person. So, I don’t think they even want pediatristians near the bridge. I guess they’ll be 86’ing it soon?
