New Executive Director At Boys & Girls Clubs

Former USD Men’s Basketball Coach Brad Holland has been named the new Executive Director/CPO at Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad, according to a release sent out yesterday.

“I am delighted to say that we have identified the person we believe is best prepared to lead us into the future. Brad Holland’s experience and ability to inspire those around him make him an exemplary leader,” stated Scott Chelberg, the Club’s Board President. “We are excited to welcome him into our Clubhouse, and watch him interact and connect with our young members, board members, as well as community and business leaders.”

Holland is the all-time winningest basketball coach in USD history and he even won a World Championship with the Los Angeles Lakers. That doesn’t happen without amazing leadership skills. Holland sounds like a welcome addition to the team.

BRAD HOLLAND TAPPED FOR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR POSITION AT BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF CARLSBAD

(Carlsbad, CA – April 27, 2010) Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad, is pleased to announce that an exceptional candidate has accepted the position of Executive Director/CPO at Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad – Mr. Brad Holland.

Very well known for his abilities as a successful fundraiser, teacher, motivator, and coach, the appointment of Brad Holland will bring the Club to an exciting new level of community service. In the 13 years he served as Mens Basketball Coach at USD, Brad graduated every player except one – while the national average is under the 50% mark. “This is a testament to Brad’s strong faith in education as a way for young people to achieve their dreams, which is in complete alignment with the Club’s mission,” said Club supporter Greg Nelson.

The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad is to provide activities and experiences that enrich the lives of young people, inspiring and enabling them to reach their full potential.

An effective communicator and solid leader, Brad’s commitment to excellence has been apparent throughout his career. He has as long list of accolades and achievements, including being named the all-time winningest basketball coach in USD history, West Coast Conference Coach of the Year in 1999 and 2000, and an NBA World Champion with the Los Angeles Lakers. While earning his degree at UCLA, he was an Academic All-American and the last player recruited by the legendary John Wooden, who he considers his greatest mentor.

“When recruiting brad it was readily apparent that he was much more than an outstanding basketball player,” said Coach Wooden.”Of more importance, he is an extremely polite, courteous, and modest young man. I had no doubt that he would become a fine teacher and coach.”

A low-key individual with a strong work ethic, Holland is most thankful for his three children and his wife, Leslie, his high school sweetheart. “I am thrilled to be returning to Carlsbad, and excited about the opportunity to enable youngsters to become the best they can be. I am proud to have been selected to lead Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad to greatness, and to become part of the legacy of this outstanding organization.”
