Patrick Philips, 18, was named as the young runner who died at the corner of Tamarack and Jefferson Street on Tuesday, November 30, 2010, according to a story in the Del Mar Times.
Several people called 911 after Phillips was spotted lying in the street near Tamarack Avenue and Jefferson Street around 5:50 p.m. Tuesday, according to Carlsbad police Lt. Bruce May. . . Officers determined that he was not the victim of a vehicle collision, but had been running when he collapsed for unknown reasons, May said.
The memorial to him on the sidewalk has been growing over the past few days. Friends appear to visit the spot regularly and candles have been kept burning nightly. Our thoughts are with Phillips’ family and friends.
