We don’t mean to be on a “reality TV” tip, but it seems like Carlsbadistan is showing up all over the place. On Sunday night Carlsbadistan’s bachelorette Naomi Crespo finally got the boot from ABC’s The Bachelor.
“My date with Naomi was a real roller-coaster ride… almost literally,” Mesnick wrote in a blog entry following ABC’s Monday night broadcast of The Bachelor, which ended with his elimination of Naomi, a 24-year-old flight attendant from Carlsbad, CA. . . . “[Naomi] and I are very similar in so many ways,” Mesnick explained. “I made my decision because I realized in my heart that Naomi has huge wings and she needs to fly and experience more in the world. She is a great girl and I know I made the right decision for all of us.”
We agree. And we’re going to cut it with the reality TV for now.

Paying visitors at Legoland today (February 6, 2009) got an extra bonus as Herb “Moo Moo” Evans of the world famous Harlem Globetrotters put on a one-man basketball show today.
Evans captivated a large audience of Park guests with his basketball wizardry and the hilarious antics that have made the Harlem Globetrotters a family favorite for generations. . . . “The best part of being a Harlem Globetrotter is the kids’ smiles,” said Evans. “Their faces just light up when I do what I do.”
One of the biggest smiles Evans got today was from 4-year-old Carlsbadistan resident Liam Cunnings. Those who missed Evans at Legoland can see the entire Globetrotters team take on the losing team in basketball (The Washington Generals) at the Sports Arena on February 13 and 15, 2009.

Carlsbadistan High School graduate and former Baltimore Orioles player Brady Anderson has placed the Malibu house he “redesigned” on the market for $8,999,000, according to a story in the Los Angeles Times.
The 3,500-square-foot home has three bedrooms, three bathrooms and ocean views. There are vaulted ceilings, glass sliding doors in the living room, a gourmet kitchen with top-of-the-line appliances and a terrace off the kitchen. There is an outdoor dining area with a fire pit and a spa observation deck.
Seems like a bad time to sell a house in Malibu, but then again, people who can afford a $9 million house probably aren’t too worried about the economy.

Sierra Reed, a 23-year-old model from LA and 2004 Carlsbadistan High graduate is in the cast of the new season of the CBS show Survivor which was shot in the Brazilian jungle, according to a story on Sandiego.com. The new season starts on February 12, 2009.
“I’m a little jet-setter,” Sierra said. “I love to experience new things all the time and this was definitely one of the most rare experiences I’ve ever had. . . I’m waiting to see how it looks on TV. It changed my life forever in a really great way, in a really amazing way.”
At this point no one knows how long our “little jet-setter” Sierra survived. We don’t know her but maybe you do. How long do you think she lasted? Let us know in the comments.

It seems like a long way off right now, but we’re putting in on the calendar just to make sure we don’t miss it. The Museum of Making Music in Carlsbadistan will present the world’s first Bob Moog Retrospective beginning in September. The Moog was the original synthesizer that helped create modern music.
Here is what Moog’s daughter Michelle Moog-Koussa had to say about it.
The Museum of Making Music will be hosting the first ever Bob Moog Retrospective exhibit from September 2009-March 2010. A formal announcement about that exhibit is forthcoming. I spent much of the weekend in meetings with the MoMM’s excellent staff about this exhibit and came away feeling excited about our collaboration and delighted at the prospect of bringing my father’s archives out for people to explore. We’ve come a long way from the moldy workshop!!

This morning a seal washed up on the beach at Tamarack. At about 9:30 the lifeguards arrived and put a couple signs up to give the animal some space. When we checked in at 10:45 AM the seal was still breathing, but didn’t look very healthy. It is obviously a big news day around these parts. . .
