The Carlsbad Village Association will be host an art pop-up for 10 hours at 538 Grand Avenue (formerly Chandler’s) during Thursdays On the Coast on March 24, 2011.
Displaying in the gallery will be art, photography, jewelry, glass, ceramics, silks and an energy like no other. A demonstration of silk painting will be out front with Marjorie Pezzoli while across the street located in front of Paradise Cottage a fellow artist who is one of the quickest watercolor painters, Steve Alan, will be exhibiting his techniques. . . “This had been an amazing collaboration of communication and logistics. The eagerness of all the artists to come together in such a short time is a welcomed sight. Those that missed the opportunity are already lining up to get involved in this new experience. No pun intended on the words, but it keeps popping up in many conversations with local business and others alike, the renaming of the Thursdays on the Coast, The Experience is well suited,” stated Event Manager, Cheryl Ehlers.
Think of Carlsbadistan’sNew Village Arts Theatre production of playwright Sam Shepard’sSimpatico as a bit of a preview for Del Mar 2011 racing season. This darkly comic Shepard classic follows Carter and Vinnie, two “nefarious characters” as they navigate the “dark underworld of horse racing” and features betrayal, love, the American West, friendship and brotherhood.
A truly stellar cast will bring the world to life, including Equity Actor Mike Sears as Carter and NVA Ensemble Member Manny Fernandes as Vinnie, with Ensemble Member Jack Missett and Kelly Iversen, Terri Park and Kim Strassburger. Award-winning Director and Ensemble Member Lisa Berger directs the production.
Simpatico opens Saturday night, March 5, 2011 and runs until with March 27 with shows Thursday through Saturday night at 8 PM, with additional shows Saturday at 3 PM and Sunday at 2 PM.

We’re usually pretty hard on Legoland California for what we think are their normally outrageous ticket prices, but from now until Christmas Day tickets to Legoland are only $9.99 per person.
That’s right. Not $59, but $9.99 That is reason enough to go. In fact, we’re thinking we’ll probably visit the theme park for our third time ever.
The deal was announced today on Twitter (@legoland_ca) and as might be imaged rocketed through the social web. Click the graphic for all the details or visit the Legoland facebook page.

This weekend Carlsbadistan street/stencil artist Bryan Synder will present his third annual solo show/30th birthday party which he “created, organized and promoted” titled Young At Art at 6 PM Friday December 10, 2010 at his studio at 2695 State Street in Carlsbad.Young At Art is a collection of new works from the past year including t-shirts, collector prints, stickers, magnets, and other collectibles/gifts.
Snyder says the majority of his new art has never been seen publicly, which quite frankly is hard for us to believe as we seem to see his signature splatter-painted objects all over the place. The event will be catered by Paradise Pizza so there’s that, too.
