The La Costa Canyon Mavericks fashion modeling team (we made that last part up, sorry) will be going catwalk-to-catwalk against La Jolla, Lincoln, and Point Loma high schools in Hurley clothing’s Walk the Walk fashion competition on January 25, 2008 at the House of Blues at 1055 5th Ave. San Diego, CA.
Hurley’s “Walk The Walk” Fashion Show is dedicated to inspiring creativity and confidence among its diverse audience. The competition flips the traditional fashion show model, giving participants total artistic control backstage to interpret Hurley fashion, while stylists and designers look on from the crowd. . . . The participants are responsible for styling the outfits, creating an overall theme, providing models, and overseeing hair, makeup, accessories, and shoes. They are also responsible for managing production, music selection and event promotion.
Apparently, Hurley designers need inspiration, and high school’s oft overlook fashionaletes need their chance to compete. The winning school will take home a $5000 art and music program donation from Hurley. As Tim Gunn would say, “Make it work, Mavericks.”
