by The Editors on August 12, 2009

A homeless woman “believed to be in her 50s or 60” was reported dead at about 12:40 PM yesterday by her male companion according to a story in the San Diego Union-Tribue.

[the woman’s] body was found in the brush off El Camino Real near Olivenhain Road yesterday afternoon. . . Police said there were no obvious signs of trauma and will wait for the results of an autopsy to determine the cause of death and if further investigation is warranted.

Apparently the homeless woman died of natural causes. It must not be easy to be homeless in North County. Age 53 is pretty young to die in this area. After all, Carlsbad and Encinitas triathlons and 10k races frequently have 60 and 70-year old women doing amazingly well.
It’s also something that she died homeless only a few hundred yards away from Carlsbad’s upscale Forum shops, where there are more Lexus and BMWs than anywhere in the next 50 miles.
