Kids Are The Chefs At Captain Cooks

by The Editors on August 12, 2009

CaptcookAccording to their website, Jon and Karen Whitehead started Carlsbadistan’s Captain Cooks Culinary Academy for Kids because they wanted to combine their “passions for cooking, healthy eating and the environment.” Captain Cooks offers three different cooking classes for kids 4-7, 7-13, and 11-16.

IRON CHEF: Each day our young chefs will create 2-3 dishes out of a secret ingredient that will be introduced to them each day. They will learn valuable lessons such as how to work together as a team and how to be creative with what is in the fridge. Our chefs will guide them through the process of looking up recipes in cookbooks and using their imaginations to create tasty dishes. Ages 4-7, 7-13 and 11-16.

AROUND THE WORLD: In this camp we will take a culinary journey around the world and experience different foods each day from Italy, France, Greece, Mexico and China. Kids will learn about cultures and experience new tastes. Ages 4-7, 7-13, 11-16

BASICS OF BAKING: Young chefs will learn the basics of baking, from yeast breads to quick breads, pies and pastries, pizza dough and breadsticks, cookies and cakes. Ages 4-7, 7-13, and 11-16.

There still are a few (like six) spots left in classes this summer. Click the link for more info.

Place no longer exists and closed their doors last year. If the owner is still in business they need to produce a cooking school. you can not be mobile and call yourself a cooking school. Her web site needs to be changed if she is posing as a school and she is really just working out of her car. Please see that her site is removed until she can prove she is a cooking school.
