Carlsbad resident Chad Christopher Kelly, 36, and his father-in-law Harwood Bland Fowler, 66, died Wednesday when their experimental plane crashed into an orange grove just north fo the Redlands Municipal Airport, according to a story in the Daily Bulletin.
San Bernardino County sheriff’s officials received reports at 4:42 p.m. of a plane crash near the corner of San Bernardino Road and Opal Avenue in Mentone. . . The experimental plane had left from French Valley Airport near Temecula and was headed to Redlands Municipal Airport when it crashed, said Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor. . . The Quad City Challenger was registered to Kelly, according to FAA records.
