Join 100,000 of your closest friends on Sunday November 1, 2009 as the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce hosts the 35th Annual fall Carlsbad Street Fair in the Village of Carlsbadistan. Browse through acres and acres of items from over 900 venders at “the nation’s largest one day faire.”
Find items that you can find at any other street faire in North America. Buy stuff that will make you wonder what you were thinking when you finally get it back into your home. But that’s not the fun of street faire. The fun is just mingling with your friends an neighbors on streets void of traffic.
“The faire is a social happening of major proportions. With almost more attendees than Carlsbad residents, the event nearly doubles the population of Carlsbad for one day,” said Ted Owen, president and chief executive officer of the Carlsbad Chamber. “Fun, food and great prices are the faire’s main ingredients.”
And we have to agree with Ted. We’ll see you there.

Vandals hit a empty city building at the 24-year-old sewage treatment plant on Tamarack, according to a Michael Burge story in the San Diego Union-Tribune and now the City of Carlsbadistan is offering a $10,000 reward for the arrest of those responsible.
vandals. . . ripped up the walls and ceilings of vacant city buildings and stuffed the debris into a sewer main, causing a minor spill and major damage. . . City Public Works Director Glenn Pruim said city crews were at the plant Sept. 29 working on something else when they heard a noise, investigated and saw raw sewage surging out of a manhole. . . They contained the spill so it didn’t overflow into a storm drain and find its way to a stream or lagoon, Pruim said. . . The city estimates the damage at $150,000.
Not to blame this on “the kids,” but maybe if the City built a proper skateboard park the youth of Carlsbadistan would have something a little more productive to do in their spare time.

Seems like we (and TK Arnold) were just talking about this the other day, and now the City of Carlsbadistan has announced that the City Council will consider updated plans and specifications for the construction of the Alga Norte Community Park at its Tuesday, October 6, 2009, meeting. They will also authorize the City Clerk to advertise for bids for the grading of the park site which is apparently the first step in building the 32-acre project on Alicante Road and Poinsettia Lane.
Follow the jump for the entire press release. Sounds a lot like good news to us.
