Allen’s recently relaunched their website and the best part of it? No more treking. The new site features online ordering. Now, Allens fans can order pizza for pick up or delivery from a comfort of their computer or iPhone.
Standard Delivery time is 45-50 min and pickup time is 20-25 min. During busy periods pickup and delivery time may run longer. Should delivery or pickup time be longer that the time stated above a representative from Allen’s will contact you at the number you’ve provided.
The tragedy could have been a calamity. Had gunman Brendan O’Rourke not been tackled by three heroic construction workers as he was fumbling with his gun, the senseless shootings last Friday at Kelly School in Carlsbad could have gone on—and we might have had one of the worst massacres in history instead of just two little girls being shot in the arm.
Moments after writing this opening line, I felt ashamed. “Just two little girls”—as though that isn’t tragic enough. Two little girls, 6 and 7 years old, happy that it’s Friday, happy that the school week’s coming to an end, probably looking forward to a soccer game Saturday morning and maybe a visit to the pumpkin patch or Legoland in the afternoon. A point in space, in time, and their lives are changed, possibly forever—strapped to a gurney, rushed to a hospital, worked over by doctors. Their physical wounds will heal, but their emotional ones? Legoland California is proud to announce that they have been awarded an Industry Innovation Award from the World Waterpark Association. The news came out last Thursday and was obviously overshadowed by more serious news. Things are safe again and Lego is still very proud.
“The fact that our Water Park is LEGO themed and geared toward young children and their families is what truly separates LEGOLAND Water Park from any other water park in the world,” said General Manager of LEGOLAND California Resort Peter Ronchetti. “I’m glad to say the reaction has been very positive and despite the rather untraditional summer weather and continuing economic stress in the market, we have had a very strong season and will be once again reporting record attendance numbers for LEGOLAND California Resort this year.”
Good news. Thanks to the Encina Wastewater Authority’s amazing sucking skills none of the sewage that spilled when when a pipeline was damaged actually reached the beach, according to a news release.
After review of flow monitoring data, the Encina Wastewater Authority (EWA) has estimated that 252,000 gallons of sewage reached the storm drain as a result from the pipeline failure. Recovery efforts included suctioning 388,800 gallons of water from the storm drain channel and 166,400 gallons from the Encinas Creek. Based on the recovered volumes and ocean monitoring results, it is not believed that any of the spilled sewage reached the Pacific Ocean.

Today (October 9, 2010) at 11 AM Carlsbadistan’sArmy & Navy Academy students joined with parents and alumni to dedicate the school’s new Alumni Veterans’ Memorial to ANA graduates who have paid the ultimate price defending our country. The ceremony was part of a weekend of events for the school Centennial Celebration 2010.
This afternoon at 1:45 there will be a Commissioning Ceremony and reception. A Tailgate Party at 5 PM for people those who played on the schools football team is planned for the hockey rink, and then tonight, parents, alumni and school dignitaries will attend a Centennial Gala celebrating the Army And Navy Academy’s 100th year in operation. Events continue on though Sunday, October 10, 2010.
As if there hasn’t been enough poop in the proverbial fan lately, the City of Carlsbadistan has announced that thanks to literal poop Avenida Encinas is expected to remain closed in front of the Encina Water Pollution Control Facility (located between Palomar Airport Road and Poinsettia Lane) for the next two weeks as crews work to replace a broken sewer pipeline.
Avenida Encinas is open to the north and to the south of the plant. Coaster station access is not affected. Motorists are asked to take alternate routes, including I-5 and Carlsbad Boulevard, avoiding using Avenida Encinas as a north-south route.
The road will likely reopen on October 23, 2010. Good to know.
Carlsbad’s Laguna Riviera Park as children were being released.
In the hours since suspected gunman Brendan L. O’Rourke, 41, walked onto the campus of Carlsbad’s Kelly School a little after 12 PM October 8, 2010 and began firing a handgun more information has come out regarding day’s events. Below are links to some of the most recent coverage.
Some completely unedited video from this afternoon at Kelly School. Waiting parents were desperate to get any news at all regarding the welfare of their children who were locked in the school while police cleared the area.
At 12:12 PM today (Friday, October 8, 2010) a man in his early 40s, described by witnesses as “white with short gray hair” drove to Kelly Elementary School (at the corner of Park and Kelly Drive) got out of his car, and began shooting a handgun at children on the playground. He was apprehended minutes later. Two second grade students were injured with non-threatening wounds in their upper extremities and were transported by helicopter to Rady Childrens’ Hospital.
According to a story on NBC San Diego. Local Carlsbadistan big wave surfer and stand up paddler Scott Chandler jumped in with two construction workers to take down the suspect.
He said that he and a couple of construction workers tackled the man. “I believe he ran out of bullets, then ran to a fence, chased by a couple guys,” Chandler said, whose two children both graduated from the school. . . The gunman had a box of bullets in his pants that police recovered and had brought a 5-gallon gas can with him as well. Law enforcement located a propane tank after the shooting and began to use a robot to examine the tank at about 1 p.m. The tank is leaning on a silver four-door American-made sedan — possibly a Crown Victoria — that was blocked off by a black pickup truck and a police patrol car.
Parents began arriving at Laguna Riviera Park around 1 PM not sure what to expect and knowing only what they heard from friends. Many were on the edge of tears. It wasn’t until 1:15 PM that an officer explained to the gathered group that “an armed suspect on the campus has been taken into custody” and that the children we currently locked down. “I’m going to need everybody to by on my side and be as patient and calm as you can,” he said. “And trust us that we are trying to make everything safe so that we can get everyone to you as quickly as we can.
As we mentioned before it wasn’t until 2:35 PM that the first students began exiting the school.
[Update: 2:35 PM, October 8, 2010] Most parents standing here in the shade at Carlsbad’s Laguna Riviera Park have been here less than two hours but to someone waiting to be reunited with their children after a tragic event like today’s, it must seem much longer.
The first children (a Kindergarten classes) were greeted with cheers as they walked out to meet their parents at 2:35 PM.
As the children exit the school the sidewalks are filling with parents who have rarely been happier to walk their children home.
The first Kindergarden students released walk hand-in-hand to meet their parents after being on lockdown for nearly three hours.
