Vish You Vere Beer: Oktoberfest In Carlsbadistan

by The Editors on October 3, 2010

Img 9525

The 28th Annual Carlsbad Oktoberfest was presented by the Rotary Clubs of Carlsbad on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Holiday Park in Carlsbadistan. Aside from the traditional German fare, this year’s festivities also included a family friendly element with a pumpkin patch and pumpkin decorating contest, inflatable jump-houses, and an antique fire-engine for the kids.

Bands rotated on the stage in the gazebo throughout the day, but the lederhosen-clad headliners Roger and The Villagers didn’t take the stage until the early evening. Once they did the oom-pahs of “Eins, Zwei, G’Suffa” and the Chicken Dance could be heard across Holiday Park.

But who’s kidding who, Oktoberfest is really about getting sloshed in a public park with family and friends and as one Oktoberfest attendee pointed out, “The chicken dance was good, but the Beck’s Oktoberfest beer was even better.”

Follow the jump for the rest of the story and more photos.

Three Candidates at Oktoberfest

by The Editors on October 6, 2008

Candidates Of

Carlsbadistan City Council candidates Thomas K. Arnold, Evan Rodgers, and Ann Kulchin out campaigning together at the Rotary Oktoberfest at Holiday Park on Saturday, October 4, 2008.

Kind of reminds us of a song that we used to sing: One of these things is not like the others, one of these things just doesn’t belong. . . let’s just say since we only have two votes we’ll probably start in the middle and move left.

Roll Out The Barrel It’s Oktoberfest

by The Editors on October 2, 2008

Oktober3

Those Carlsbad Rotarians may not know how to send out a press release or respond to email, but they surely know how to throw beer drinking parties. That’s why we’re so excited about the 26th Annual Carlsbad Rotary Oktoberfest being held in Holiday Park this Saturday, October 4, 2008 from 1 – 10 PM.

There nothing better than spending an afternoon drinking beer in a public park, doing the chicken dance, and helping the kids carve a pumpkin. Plus, it all helps raise money for some good causes. Hopefully we’ll see you there. . . in your lederhosen.
