Three cars (all silver) were involved: two Lexus and one Honda Pilot. The Pilot rolled and was resting on the driver’s side with two wheels in the air, one Lexus was hit on the passenger side and plowed into a light poll while the other had damage all down the driver’s side.

One bystanders said heard a cellphone was involved. “Apparently, one driver was on the phone and didn’t see another car stop in front of her, then, swerved and the pile up occurred,” he said. “But I didn’t see it.”

Sunday Morning Lagoon Manhunt

by The Editors on January 26, 2009

One of our Twitter friends alerted us to this early Sunday morning. Apparently, “A man suspected of drunken driving ran into a lagoon, refused to surrender and tried to drown a police dog before he was arrested, police said yesterday.” according to a story in the San Diego Union–Tribune.

Lavar Toosweet McKiernan, 34, was arrested on suspicion of felony driving under the influence, felony evading causing injuries, and attempting to harm a police dog, said Carlsbad police Lt. Marc Reno.. . . The motorist drove away with Alexander in pursuit, Reno said. He rear-ended a vehicle and hit a telephone pole before leaving the car and running into the Buena Vista Lagoon, about half a mile from where the chase began.

Alcohol is such a wonderful thing, huh?
